A series of catching up with friends, near and far.

I’m so excited to share this special feature with you all!

Alberta is a dear friend that I met through TikTok last year. We instantly bonded over our love of vintage fashion and playing around with creative styling in our own closets. Alberta has such a bright, inviting presence that shines through her thoughtful styling content on TikTok, Instagram and now Youtube! I admire her playful & creative approach to getting dressed, and her emphasis on ‘Taking Style Personally’. With a focus on ‘Sustainable + Attainable Style’, Alberta offers Personal Style Sessions as well as Curated Thrift Edits via her website!

Hi Alberta! Where can we find you online?

What’s your favourite morning bev?

I am a dedicated Tetley tea drinker, with oat milk and honey- I can’t stand the taste of coffee, but I sure do love the smell.

Describe your style in 3 words:

Casual, Natural, Eclectic.

What is your uniform outfit?

Oversized button up shirt (wrinkled silk or worn in linen or vintage stripes)

+ Comfy bottoms (faded 501’s, wrinkled linen shorts, slouchy corduroys in the winter)

+ Shoes that I can walk in

“Shopping secondhand is a slow burn but when you finally find that thing you’ve been after (sometimes for years) it’s just the best feeling.

A song/album you have on repeat:

Marisa Anderson’s album “Into The Light” is the only record I never ever get tired of, and now that the sun is coming back I’ve been loving Lorde's “Solar Power” (on vinyl, with all the windows open)

What keeps you grounded?

My morning walks with my partner- We live near a walking trail and we start every single day with a loop to visit the ducks, rain or shine. Some mornings I grumble about getting up but it always leaves me feeling grounded.

Fav meal to make at home?

I love a snack plate— fresh veggies and cheese from the farmer’s market, fancy crackers, salami, maybe even some dates or dried apricots if I’m feeling wild.

How do you find inspiration?

Playing in my closet! I love thinking about the relationship I have with my clothing and finding new ways to breathe life into old favourites. I’m inspired by old photos of my parents, and my queen Georgia O’Keeffe, and I love to take trends I see online and translate them through my own lens using what I already have.

What’s one recurring theme in your life right now?

Transformation. It’s been a big couple of years of seismic changes and hard growth and it’s all feeling very rewarding now that I’m coming through the other side.

One little moment that brightened your day recently?

I finally found the perfect beat-up black jeans at the thrift store recently and I was over the moon. Shopping secondhand is a slow burn but when you finally find that thing you’ve been after (sometimes for years) it’s just the best feeling.

What are you currently reading/watching/listening to?

📔 The Priory of the Orange Tree (again)

🎞 Ted Lasso with my partner, and too many unlikely animal friendship videos on Tiktok

Fav vintage item you own?

I could never choose just one! My top 3 in no particular order (edited down from 10)

1- My Dad’s vintage cardigan, knit from wool that he worked for and mailed home while traveling New Zealand in the early ‘80s with my Mum

2- My favourite button-up shirt of all time, a green and white striped Ralph Lauren oxford that has been with me for many years and has never let me down

3- My Mum’s beat up Chip n’ Pepper tie dye sweatshirt that she bought in the early 90s. It’s wildly not my style but it just works, and I love that one of my most treasured heirlooms is a ratty old sweatshirt.

Thanks for checking in. <3
